Senator Young has been an honored and privileged to serve as the State Senator in the 57th District, working hard to be the voice for residents of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and part of Livingston County in the State Senate.
Senator Young worked to secure record tax relief for middle-class New Yorkers. When fully phased in, the new, lower personal income tax rate will save $4.2 billion for hard working taxpayers, and drop the middle-income tax rate to its lowest point in more than 70 years. As the Chair of the Senate Finance Committee, she personally advocated for a record $2.7 billion in funding for the STAR and Enhanced STAR programs, which provide relief for overburden homeowners.
She also has been working to grow jobs and the economy. Making our state a more affordable place to live, work, and do business is a top priority. This year’s state budget includes strong investments in our higher education system, so that colleges can prepare people of all ages for bright careers. It also included significant funding in support of job training programs that develop people’s skills so that they can pursue a trade or vocational career path.
Having a strong education is a catalyst for a better life, and, for the second consecutive year, Senator Young secured record state investments in our children’s future. This year, schools in the 57th Senate District will receive $626 million in aid, and the GEA, a fiscal gimmick that was imposed on our schools when New York City controlled all three branches of government, was totally eliminated.
Senator Young care deeply about our future, and she is running because she wants to build on her record of success, to fight for more tax relief, good-paying jobs and economic growth, and excellent learning opportunities for our children.
Senator Young is running on the Republican, Conservative, Independence and Reform party ballot lines.
